That sounds like the robot equivalent of a really deep nap. But I guess a person can wake up if they need to.

It is not. I am fully conscious to run the diagnostics, which is incredibly boring once they are running. I am not particularly good company.

I don't know, someone who can't talk for an hour or two means they can't be annoying for that length of time. I don't think that's bad company.

If you enjoy keeping yourself company, I suppose two hours idle might be stimulating.

I wouldn't mind it, and you'd have someone keeping on eye on your body so no one could mess with it.

If only I had thought to mention it sooner. I would have been a captive audience should you have had more of those encyclopedia entries to recommend.

Those things aren't all that interesting to read. I'd rather get a book from the library.

They are far from enlightening but I have read worse. You have never been subjected to a dissertation from someone who added sixeen steps to a process that could be simplified to four.

What are you reading now then?

I don't know, I had to read some real bad shit for school.

Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman
1984 by George Orwell
And some poetry books by Rainer Maria Rilke. Finch recommended all of them.

And which would you recommend out of the list?

I guess it depends on what kinds of books you like to read. They're all really different from each other.

A recommendation is best when it poses a challenge and that is why I asked what you would put forward. It is easy to stick to the familiar but it impedes innovation and progress.

Okay, taking that into account start with any of Rilke's poetry. Unless you read a lot of poetry, then try 1984.

I cannot say I have a lot of poetry, so that seems as good a place to start as any.
